Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Sat S — 28 Dec 2017
I cannot believe it got the high ratings it did. It was slow, lacked any character development, had no specific tense moments, just kind of aimlessly floated along as the director had never known of this event, and relied on people who already knew of the heroism of the events to buy a ticket.
Half the movie followed a couple guys trying to sneak aboard a ship, but they were just as aimless as any other character - the air battles were as if you were watching a dogfight on quaaludes. Talk about not doing an event justice.
No background was laid down, nothing, it was a total flop. Now we rented it through Amazon, so did not pay theater prices, but I still want my money and time back it was such a lousy portrayal of the actual event.
There was so little dialogue, it was unclear who anyone was, even when a cheer went up due to a spitfire saving the day, it was like the sound was muted - the music which ran through the whole movie was kind of dream like and never changed tempo, ever.
Horrible movie.. I would give it a 4 out of 10 at most - sad as the participants deserved a better representation than this...
