Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Marcus S — 18 Jan 2018

I was massively disappointed during and immediately after this film. Dunkirk is all about epic scale and films like Atonement have awed us with an insight to that. Puzzled, I read some other lay reviews and discovered the first person aspect that I should have appreciated throughout.

Sadly it felt like a video game that I couldnt control rather than an empathetic "in-their-shoes" experience. I will rewatch in hope of that but for now I regret a missed opportunity for a big budget big vision director to add to the public awareness of the greatest escape the free world has ever had.
