Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Jeff P — 11 May 2018
Absolutely superb British film about the siege of 300,000 British troops of the expeditionary force in France as the Nazi army closed in on them, cutting them off. It is the stuff of legend, but it really happened, largely as described in this excellent picture.
It was a huge success in movie theaters across North America even though (or perhaps because) it was premiered in the summer, when most studios produce lightweight popcorn fare aimed at kids out of school.
It stayed in cinemas for months, and certainly deserved its best picture Oscar nomination.
