Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Grant W — 20 Jan 2018
A unique war movie that was quite enjoyable. It does not focus as much on the action as say a movie like Saving Private Ryan but does have some action in it. I would have preferred there be slightly more action than there was but the action they had was very well filmed and very realistic.
The time skipping portions of the movie were quite unique to the movie and was very interesting to watch the first time around. I would be interested in watching a version of the movie that was entirely chronological and would probably prefer that over the theatrical version due to the time skipping only be interesting initially and afterwards becoming somewhat annoying.
The actors have great performances including Kenneth Branagh who was not as important of a character as he should have been. With that said though I enjoyed the movie despite some small criticisms.
