Review of Dunkirk (2017) by M P — 14 Dec 2017
Nolan is certainly "in full command" of the art of filler. Very weak script completely devoid of anything interesting. The characters played by the "big names" are like cardboard cut-outs of characters from Harlequin romances.
That leaves Harry Styles, playing a totally pointless character, as the only pleasant surprise. But, really, what was the point of that murder? The two deaths of any import have absolutely nothing to do with the nearly 40,000 soldiers that died there.
Then there's the half-hearted attempt at a non-chronological style which is pathetically abandoned half-way though. Yeesh!
