This was a three hour movie with 80 minutes of original footage that appears to have been lost before it got to editing. There are scenes that are confusing and don't make sense due to lack of context.
The NOVA documentary Great Escape at Dunkirk had more emotional depth and characterization and greater historical accuracy. The spitfire scenes are outstanding but the rest of the movie is emotionally vacant.
Great actors turned into props.
