The director's choice to convolute the story with multiple timelines, to show the same event over and over again from different perspectives, to not show a single enemy, and to not use CGI but opt instead for the same redundant over-the-shoulder angle in scene after scene after scene in the skies killed all the tension in what otherwise could have been a great movie.
