Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Mark T — 09 Aug 2017
Dreadful dross. Poorly scripted, badly directed, boring with, opportunities wasted. Branagh stands gurning for most of the film, Rylance is still the BFG and Hardy is just plain silly.
Where were the hundreds of thousands of men on the beach, the 1000 ships, 5000 RAF sorties? Instead we had a couple of hundred men, half a dozen boats and three aircraft. Watch the 1958 Dunkirk with Mills and Attenborough of the 2002 BBC film, both far better than Nolan's effort. Many people walked out of the film when I watched it, some saying loudly they were going to get their money back. I stayed to finish my beer.
