Okay if I'm being 100% me and my friends wanted to see the movie because Harry Styles was in it. SORRY. But personally, I am a huge fan of war movies I don't know why. AND I'm a HUGE Christopher Nolan fan.

His past movies have been so moving and complex that I was so positive this movie would be AMAZING. And seeing that it's got a 93% rating doesn't hurt. I will admit that some of Nolan's movies have confused me, e.

G. Inception. But this film has probably been the most confusing. There was barely any dialogue, and I literally only knew the name of only one character, George. I'm not saying the movie sucked, but it wasn't a huge blockbuster kind of movie for me.

There really was no main character, which made it difficult to understand who was who. But the movie did seem very realistic as though I was on the beach myself. Speaking of settings, I am NOT a fan of non-linear narrative.

Especially in this film, because from the beginning the different time spans were established, but so many characters overlapped in the same time periods/ settings. I wasn't sure if the scenes in the air were happening at the same time as the small boats were picking up survivors.

And to be quite honest, I didn't feel as though there was a concrete storyline at all. Yes I know, "evacuating Dunkirk and crossing the English channel" yada yada yada, but everything was way too jumbled up and confusing for me.

OH AND ONE LAST THING. I'm rather upset that George (the 17 year old boy who boarded on the small boat with Peter and his father), died. Not only the fact that he died, but the way he died. Cillian Murphy's character--who by the way was credited as "shivering soldier"--was so shell-shocked by the U-boat attacks that he absolutely did not want to go back to Dunkirk, even though it was Mr.

Dawson's job/duty to continue where they were going. Anyways, the shivering soldier was in a frenzy (understandably) and tried to take matters into his own hands and turn the boat around, during his outburst, apparently George is knocked over and hits his head, and blood starts to gush out.

Peter tries to make him as comfortable and alive as long as possible, but my heart broke when Peter tells George to try and stand up, but George has already gone blind. :( Then after there is a huge oil slick explosion/fire Dawson attempts to get as many soldiers on the boat as he can and one tells Peter that George has died and covers him up with a blanket.

WHAT KIND BS IS THAT?! It isn't even like the boat was bombed and a soldier most likely suffering from PTSD accidentally pushes the boy and causes his head to split open. It didn't seem necessary or realistic at all for that matter.

Oh and one last thing (I promise) I was so confused the whole time Tommy, Harry's character, and the French dude were in the boat. Like where were they??? Why was there some random boat right there, and how did the Germans get there to use the boat for target practice?????? SO MUCH CONFUSION!! Then to make things worse, the pour French dude who was only trying to survive and get away from Dunkirk got his leg stuck to a chain and couldn't get out of the sinking boat in time.

Also a lil' salty that Harry's character, I wanna say his name is Alex, was a little snake and tried to purposefully kill the French dude or "bloody frock" as he said it. Anyways, I would watch the movie again, I don't regret it and in all fairness it was good, but the time spans, and the vagueness of the situation made it hard to follow, but that didn't stop the movie from tugging a little on my heart strings.

So conclusion: I didn't give it those 2 stars because of some of the deaths, the fact that I didn't know what was going on, and also the ending was lame. But it wasn't bad.
