Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Joel G — 23 Jul 2017
If you haven't seen this film yet, do yourself a favor and please travel to the nearest real IMAX and not to one of those fake AMC IMAX theaters to experience Christopher Nolan's latest masterpiece.
The movie must be watched in the largest screen possible. The cinematography is just simply magnificent and breathtaking. The film is really really good and one thing that real stuck with me throughout the film is that it really pulls you in as if you are part of the action - ex.
the planes flying with their aerial maneuvers and trying to shoot each other down was just so cool and really immersive. Oh and I haven't even mentioned the score, the Hanz Zimmer sound throughout the film was as big as the film itself.
Zimmer really nailed it with the score and it compliments the movie so well - looking forward to checking it out on Bluray when it's released. The acting was great as well. Nolan utilizes a non-linear approach on this film that goes back and forth between aerial, ground and sea scenes and it comes all together beautifully at the end.
Dunkirk definitely lands at my #2 favorite war film of all time right behind Saving Private Ryan and may overtake the #1 spot of all time after a second viewing. An amazing film that deserves once again a real IMAX viewing.
My rating 10/10 stars. A masterpiece that deserves the highest of highest recommendation.
