Review of Dunkirk (2017) by John H — 05 Aug 2017
This was not a good movie. Nameless characters in vignettes pieced together to provide an underwhelming story of an overwhelming and tense real life event. I have no problem with the cinematography, editing or acting.
The problem is the way the story is told; disjointed nameless characters we see in what was portrayed more like an episode of "The Walking Dead", which I might add has better character development than Dunkirk.
I think the producers and directors got too cutesy and attempted to Tarantino a war film about one of the most iconic rescues of WWII. To me this is a flop among flops. It gets four stars for the scenery, 1 star for effects, 3 stars for cinematography, 3 stars for editing, 3 stars for acting and a big whopping zero for composition and story telling.
I'm so glad I did not waste money on a big screen.
