Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Trey K — 08 Jul 2018

I'm not naive to films, but I found Dunkirk very difficult to follow. If Avengers 3 was praised for how easy it was to tell locations apart, Dunkirk was the perfect contrast.

But, giving a pass to the difficulty I had following it. I thought it was just cliche. Over and over again, scene after scene, it was just obvious "gee I bet he gets rescued at the last second" to the extent that it's not even suspenseful.

I think it may be this way to be sensitive to descendents of WW II veterans, or something a long those lines. And I do understand that. But if you're not in the mood for a somewhat predictable, contrived glorious drama about WW II then this movie isn't for you.
