Review of Dungeons & Dragons (2000) by Kevin S — 11 Nov 2008
A very bad movie, I have no idea what they were going for here but they missed the target completely. Interesting the effects for a 2000 arn't to bad, but alot of the costumes were pitiful. Jeremy Irons completely hams it up here, overacting completely. I don't know hose idea it was to put blue lipstick on Bruce Paynes character, but they should be shot. ANd Payne performance was irritating, while he had the look (outside the lipstick)he tried to sound menacing talking a whispering voice, but it fails miserably. The main character was a terrible choice and included too much humor. marlon Waynes shouldn't even be in this type of film. Thora Birch was miscast as the princess, she could not carry the part at all. I won;t even get into the dwarf.
Whoever made this film had no idea what they were doing. This had the potential to be a great fantasy movie with so much info to draw from, however they created a film that offended the games fanbased and didn't have the quality to draw in the new people. I do not recommend this film.
