It's certainly a horrible movie, but it's slightly better if you try to imagine it as an actual DnD campaign on the big screen, complete with all the stupid crap people do in campaigns, complete with a quest to revive a fallen comrade at the end.
Maybe that was their writing process. Glad I didn't see it in theatres.
