Review of Dune (2021) by Twanan — 28 Nov 2021
The best adaption of Frank Herbert's Dune (at least the first half of it) up to this day, which isn't really saying much, though. Though splitting the book in half allows for more room for this story to breathe, it still isn't enough to bring the novel's elements fully to their right.
PROS.
- Cinematography.
- Visual effects.
- Hans Zimmer's score.
- Acting (Chalamét, Ferguson, Isaac, Skarsgard).
- Denis Villeneuve's directing.
CONS.
- Not much philosophical elements are fully brought to their right.
- Third act becomes a little bit of a mess.
- Underdeveloped side-characters (Yueh, Gurney, Hawat, Piter).
Overall a fine adaptation, excited for the second part.
