Review of Dune (2021) by Emeu — 24 Oct 2021
This was a total achievement in every aspect. Sound, cinematography, art design, performances, pacing, plot, world building. IT exceeded all my expectations and more. If you're expecting some big war or a big fight like comic movies, this is not for you. This about the journey and the awe of the universe containing it. Every character has a reason and feels fleshed out. The plot is really easy to follow ( I haven't read the books or watch the old film) but it never holds your hand or treats you like you're dumb and need everything to be explained through some cheesy dialogue. IT SHOWS. It open your senses with marvelous visuals and sound, and let the story go through. So please watch it in cinemas, it deserves it.
I wish the combat scenes were a bit more visceral but I can see why villenueve was a bit cautious in this subject, and it feels justified.
I'm crossing my fingers that in the world we live today a movie like this can thrive and we get to see the second part.
