Review of Dune (2021) by Jarvis — 23 Oct 2021
A refreshing return to one of my favorite genres of film. Dune may suffer from a slow start, but as the film progresses and its narrative develops it becomes a welcome addition to the seemingly dead genre of Long, narrative driven Blockbusters.
At the start the characters can come across as a little flat,and there is a lot of terminology and lore to learn relatively quickly, but the payoffs for all this buildup are worth the initial grind. The universe of the film itself is intriguing, and its sense of atmosphere and tension grows more and more investing as the story progresses.
