Review of Dumbo (1941) by Thomas W — 17 Dec 2013
Dumbo is a film designed specifically at kids and families. Many adult audiences will not be attracted to this film, but for its target audience and for its time it is impressive. This film has a lot of heart and drama and although there aren't any complex personalities or story for the mature audiences it is a delight to watch.
Most of the scenes didn't feel like a waste of time, instead appropriately setting whatever mood or plot that was necessary: except for the infamous acid trip scene. Holy crap was those pink elephants scary. I have heard that the crows are some sort of racist stereotype, but I didn't see anything really offensive about them, if anything. They were a lot of fun and weren't like the other jerks in the film. Seriously, I didn't see such discriminative elephants in my life, (though I rarely seen elephants so there).
