Review of Dumbo (1941) by Paul D — 14 Jan 2011
Walt Disney's fourth animated feature (following "Snow White," "Pinocchio," and "Fantasia") is a classic example of a character who is instantly and thoroughly engaging without any dialogue.
Animation and humor sort of echoes the Silly Symphonies cartoons from the 20s and 30s. A fun, silly, heartwarming, and enlightening feature; probably the most charming of the Disney classics. Highlights include the touching and bittersweet "Baby Mine" and the colorful and surreal "Pink Elephants," Timothy Mouse is a Jiminy Cricket-esque delight.
"The very things that held you down are gonna carry you up, UP, UP!".
