Review of Dumbo (1941) by Matt M — 31 Jan 2013
Classic Disney at its best and most heart-warmingly touching, though often overlooked in favour of longer and more extravagant titles. The film is the simple tale of an elephant born with oversized ears, separated from his mother and exploited in the circus who eventually gets the last laugh by learning to fly.
This film is simply perfection, with a beautifully touching tale for all generations, instantly appealing characters and great musical numbers, including a near experimental one where Dumbo gets drunk and starts hallucinating.
Simply wonderful.
