Review of Dumbo (1941) by Dann M — 10 Feb 2015
"Well I been done seen about everything, when I see an elephant fly!" One of Disney's most iconic films, Dumbo is a cute little story about a flying elephant. The plot's fairly simple; a baby circus elephant nicknamed "Dumbo" (do to his big, oversized ears) is ostracized by his fellow elephants, but finds a unlikely friend in a mouse named Timothy.
The animation is quite good, with lots of bright colors and fun character designs. However, it gets a little out-of-control at times (such as the Elephants on Parade sequence). And the ending is really rushed, throwing-out a lot of exposition in the last few minutes of the film.
Dumbo doesn't exactly soar to great highs, but it's entertaining and the character is adorable.
