Review of Dumbo (1941) by Slinky J — 12 May 2010
This was my favorite movie when I was a kid and it still is, ha ha. I also apparently really loved Babe when I was a kid, however, Beauty and the Beast still tops my all time favorite in regards to Disney movies.
Anyways, thats beside the point. Dumbo is rather interesting because when I was a kid, I'm sure I couldn't catch this, but he gets drunk and so does the mouse! But it doesn't really matter, because little kids don't catch those things, and besides, that's actually one of the coolest parts of the movie.
Aside from that, the movie is actually rather sad in a lot of parts because he's basically a toddler or a little kid and can never be with his mother who was trying to protect him and the part where she is still in confinement but gets to rock him back and forth with her trunk just makes me want to bawl, it was so sweet.
This movie, besides being entertaining and changing perspectives and turning a disadvantage into a plus, the movie really also seemed to be about motherhood and was just rather sweet. I also really really LOVE elephants! They are intelligent creatures that obviously show their feelings.
After not having seen this movie for many many years, I'm still in love with it and elephants.
