Review of Dumb and Dumber To (2014) by Jeff Y — 07 Apr 2015

The characters are exactly the same. The situations they find themselves in are completely believable compared to what we saw in the first movie. And yet, this movie was disheartening. For any fan of the '94 film, you could likely anticipate the characters' forced reactions, which tells me that they brought nothing new. So concerned with making sure they did the original justice, they all forgot to show some comedic growth or depth. We didn't watch this movie to see them be funny the exact same way as they did twenty years ago - we already have that movie, we watched the new movie to see something new out of them, something that is still them, but different.

We didn't get that. I truly believe that if this project had been in 1996 or 97, we would have.

Funniest part of the movie: Carrey and the salivating dog.
