Review of Dumb and Dumber To (2014) by Campbell P — 13 May 2015

After 20 years Dumb and Dumber finally gets a sequel. Does it live up to the first? Eh no not really close. Let me start off with that the theatrical trailer for this movie was horrendous. It was not the Dumb and Dumber I enjoyed.

I didn't know what to expect. I was pleased with the actual amount of laughs I got from this movie. There's a lot of the same humor that we got from the first movie and that surprisingly is one of my problems with this movie.

It's okay to use a couple of gags from the first movie but using a lot of them kinda makes you feel like they couldn't find a way to get a better joke to put there. I understand its all nostalgic to add that in there but I think it was a bit overdone.

I don't believe of making a review based on a completely different film but Anchorman 2 did enough gags from the first movie to give the audience what they wanted and didn't overplay it. While you got a lot of that great sense of humor from the first movie you got this really weird sense of humor sometimes.

There were a ton of stoner comedy type jokes in here which doesn't really suit this movie. Sure some of them were funny but it just didn't feel right. The story was a bit all over but it was really entertaining to watch and I mean that's kinda what you expect from Dumb and Dumber, to laugh and be really entertained! There were some really dumb parts that I disliked, like the guy blending in with the brick wall and vending machine.

... Yeah that was dumb. I mean you go to see Dumb and Dumber To to be entertained and laugh a lot like you did with the first and I did some of it, I had some enjoyment watching this movie despite its problems and that's what's important.

Dumb and Dumber To doesn't live up to the first but did kinda entertain me as a fan of the first film. D+.
