Review of Dumb and Dumber (1994) by Libero S — 08 Jan 2015
Dumb and Dumber is a classic comedy which is very quotable and very likeable. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels play two dim witted pals Lloyd (Carrey) and Harry (Daniels).
Lloyd who is working as a limo driver realises his that his passenger (Lauren Holly) has left her briefcase at the airport. Lloyd, in an attempt to impress the woman tries to track her down and return the briefcase, the hilarious road trip to Aspen begins. One of funniest parts of the movie, is when Lloyd and Harry discover that the briefcase is full of money and decide to stay in a Presidential suite, tipping the hotel workers at every turn, barely being able to get out of their Ferrari due to the sheer amount of purchases they have made, writing I owe you's and accounting for every penny they have spent.
What really worked well I felt, was the chemistry between Carrey and Daniels and the gut-bustingly hilarious gags and comedic timing which the film mastered well. The plot itself is nothing special but with the backing of the movie's two main actors we forgive the plot for not being that great.
Dumb and Dumber is a refreshingly wacky comedy classic which any fan of comedy movies or Jim Carrey should definitely watch, it's a comedy that doesn't really focus on a plot so much, or character development, but the comedic value is A grade, and the result is a really enjoyable flick which provides us with a hilarious, memorable comedy.
Would I Recommend: Yes.
