Review of Dumb and Dumber (1994) by Alex B — 11 May 2018
This movie was very stupid, as was to be expected. I watched it over a decade after it was released mainly because I was curious to see what the hype was about, considering the cult following of this movie. I did get a few very good laughs out of it as there were some clever dumb jokes in there. Overall though, the relentless barage of dumb jokes did wear on me after a while. Of course I was not shock by this result of the movie and my reaction.
One other facet of this movie that stood out was the sound track. It was all 90's sounding music that really communicated the 'care-free lets have fun' nature of the 90's that I remember, growing up in them.
I will also make note of Jim Carrey. This is the first time I've sat through an entire Jim Carrey movie and the guy is incredible. He is a walking talking cartoon character who's range of expression is just mind blowing. This is the only film I have seen Jeff Daniels in and was a pretty good comedic actor himself but he is just blown away by Carrey's ability.
Overall, I would recommend watching this movie at least one if you have not seen it.
