Review of Dumb and Dumber (1994) by Shane D — 09 Nov 2012
You could be forgiven for remembering this film as being a cheap and nasty laugh fest released at the peak (and possible beginning of the decline) of Jim Carrey's comedy career. You could also be forgiven for thinking that you'd be best served to never watch it again, chalking it up as a disposable piece of rubbish.
But on repeat viewing, you'll be surprised at how well it stacks up, especially in comparison to a lot of buddy comedies of recent times. Sure, you have to be willing to deal with Carrey in hyperdrive, but if you can do that, this film is actually pretty well rewarding, in a late Sunday night TV movie kinda way.
Also a good reminder that Jeff Daniels has a lot of charm, which has been heavily under-used in the years since.
