Review of Dum Maaro Dum (2011) by Faisal M — 04 Jun 2011
Well, this movie is not an usual Bollywood movie actually. It might have been inspired by some Hollywood movies, not sure about it, but the movie works in a way. This movie is about Goa & all the drug business that once had taken all over Goa. Enters ACP Kamath who takes a vow to clean up the mess. Talking about the performances Abhishek Bachchan plays these kind of roles very well. He was good & effective. Rana Daggubati had nothing much to do but seems like he has the potential. Prateik Babbar was good yet again after Dhobhi Ghat, Aditya Pancholi making a comeback, was okay & Bipasha had nothing much to do at all. The music of the movie is nice, specially the famous title track recreated. Also the background music was techno savvy, by the very talented Medieval Punditz. The final twist of the movie actually is a nice one, which will shock you for just a moment. The direction was fine but could have been much better, editing was not as sharp as it could have been, "thayn thayn" song could have been easily chopped, it was silly to watch a hardcore cop rapping in the middle of his duties.
P.S. do not miss Deepika & her moves in the title track.
