Review of Duets (2000) by Grant S — 27 Feb 2011
So much potential wasted. This could have been a great exploration of companionship and sudden-friendships. Instead, it triies to tackle too many stories simultaneously, and dilutes the impact of each. The individual stories are thus less developed, and, other the Huey Lewis-Gwyneth Paltrow story, are pretty boring anyway. There is no connection between the stories either, another irritation.
Acting is good, all round, just limited by the dud script.
The music is great, as you would expect, and almost makes up for the plot.
