Review of Duel of Champions (1961) by Vt D — 15 Nov 2018
Terrible print makes it hard to judge film on it's own merits. Dubbed. Cheaply made Italian "peplum" with a score that tries hard to inject some life into a script which is...not the greatest.
Originally over two hours long, it was originally released in the USA at 72 minutes - after having trouble finding a distributor. The print I watched was 90 minutes. In Linet's biography of Ladd it's stated that he knew well this was one of his worst pictures - and he was right.
This is Robert Keith's last film - he does alright in it, considering. Ladd looks ill, Alana Ladd (his daughter) looks lovely in a small part.
