Review of Duel in the Sun (1946) by Vedrana V — 23 Oct 2009
Very good! Great symbolism, great tension between the actors, lots of conflicted emotions and pent up agression = amazing! Leaves you with a bit of an uneasy feeling afterward, but I just knew it from the start that Lewt and Pearl would eventually destroy each other in the end. Call me a weirdo, but despite the circumstances, I find their ending incredibly romantic...
It's also the first movie where I see Gregory Peck playing the "bad guy" and I must say I enjoyed it. :) By seducing Pearl, he seduced me as well, no doubt about that...
The main plot of the movie, Pearl's conflicted personality and the destructive and volatile nature of her and Lewt's relationship is what got me hooked from the beginning.
Awesome movie! Maybe not one of the best I've ever seen, but definitely one of the more interesting ones!
