Review of Due Date (2010) by Anthony R — 23 Oct 2012
Any pleasure that can be taken in watching Due Date is sullied by Zach Galifianakis's unpleasant, irritating manchild character. Of the two main characters, we are forced to identify with Downey, simply because Galifianakis plays a walking cartoon who never makes a rational decision and belongs in a mental asylum.
We relate to Downey only by default when his character has many chances to get out of this situation, which is frustrating to watch. It gets wrong everything Get Him to the Greek did right. Direction and editing are solid, but the jokes are mostly misfires, and Jamie Foxx and Juliette Lewis are pretty much the only reason to watch this.
