Review of Due Date (2010) by Seth Y — 04 Mar 2013
"Due Date is filled with a couple of laughs, but ultimately goes down as a very disappointing comedy.
This is a road-trip film about a soon-to-be father who needs to travel across the country in order to make it home in time for this child's birth. However, after being put on the "no fly" list and left with no money, his only option is to hop into a rental car with another man who is the complete opposite of him.
As you would expect with a road-trip movie, every possible thing that could go wrong does. Unfortunately though, the way it's executed just isn't very good. The chemistry between Downey Jr. and Galifiankis is just alright. Surprisingly, the first ten minutes of "Due Date" are very good, but things quickly go down-hill and you are left with a below-average film. There are a couple of funny sequences, but this is mostly forgettable. It's sad, because you feel as if there was tons of potential, but the results just weren't there. 2 stars.
