Review of Due Date (2010) by Movie K — 26 Jan 2015

Quite a funny road trip movie. Robert Downey Jr is rushing to meet his pregnant wife Michelle Monaghan who is due soon. His driver had a small accident with another car just outside the airport. Zach Galifianakis is the passenger and he accidentally knock down Robert luggage.

He ask Zach to pick up but he says he cannot touch people's stuff at airport. At the security check, the guard found somethings which belong to Zach in Robert's baggage. Up the plane, their seats are just nearby.

Zach ask Robert to switch off his phone when the announcement is made. Robert ask him to stop saying words like bomb and terrorist. The air marshal ask him to step forward and then shot him with his gun.

He and Zach are dropped and put on No Fly list and his luggage already flown off. Robert is stuck without his wallet. Zach drove a car and offer to let him tag on. Zach is an aspiring actor and he is trying to go Hollywood to meet a casting agent.

His father died and he bring the ashes along. Zach want to buy medicine weed and Robert insist it is drug. So he finally use the trump card as he has car and money. Zach drop by Juliette Lewis house to buy the weed.

She ask Robert to take care her 2 kids for awhile. The boy is very irritating and keep disturbing Robert so he give him a light punch to shut him down. Realizing Zach spend almost all the money on his weed, Robert ask Michelle to wire the money to Zach.

Then at the counter, they can't get the money because Zach forgotten it is wired to his stage name not real name in his ID. Danny McBride the counter staff refuse their story and want to close early.

Turns out he is a war veteran and on wheelchair. He come out and whack the duo hard with his night stick. They stay overnight in the car. In the morning, Robert seize the chance when Zach left for the toilet, to remove his stuffs and drive the car off.

Then he found the ash can still inside. He try to leave it outside but can't bear. He drive back with food and Zach thought he is leaving him behind. Zach is driving and then he fell asleep and crash down.

Robert broke his arm. He call his friend Jamie Foxx to pick him up and let off his anger at Zach. Jamie tells him not to screw his karma and to patch things with Zach. So end up he hitch the ride along.

At Jamie home, he know Michelle is having a C-section which surprise Robert. They use to be college boy-girlfriend. Jamie use the ash to make coffee as it is in the coffee tin. Zach and Robert continue their road trip with Jamie car.

He tell Robert maybe Jamie is having affair with Michelle since they are still in contact and met 9 months ago and pregnant now. Zach smoke the weed in car and stone everybody. He got off the highway and headed to Mexico border.

Zach ask Robert to pass him the ash and dog and run away. The Mexican authorities found weed in the car. Actually they are not gonna punish Robert for the small amount of weed. Zach sneak in and save Robert.

He thank Zach for coming to save him. Robert drive to Grand Canyon since Zach want to throw the ashes there. Robert confess to him he wanted to dump him back then. Zach says he return with doughnuts and that speaks more about who he is.

Then Zach confess he have his wallet the whole time but didn't want to cross country alone. Robert beat him up and Michelle call to say her water broke. So they quickly continue. Zach take out a gun and shot Robert thigh accidentally.

Zach take over the wheel and reach the hospital. Robert faint when he found Michelle room. Give birth to a girl, Zach even cut the umbilical cord. Robert dreamt that a bear chew on the cord and now relates to what happened.

Finally Zach did make it to TV and guest star in his favourite show "Two and a half men".
