Review of Dude, Where's My Car? (2000) by Dave H — 12 Apr 2009
Nowhere near the Dumb&DumberWayne'sWorld peak of stupid-duo-movies, but the leads are perfectly cast, and the script has it's inspired moments for sure. Starts a lot better than it ends. Great concept of two stoners too mind-wasted to remember what happened to their car and thus retracing their steps loses momentum and most of its potential with the TOO bizarre inclusion of the 'Continuum Transfunctioner" device.
There's more than enough humour inherent in the contrast of these two great characters with odd EARTHBOUND folk to warrant the off-the-scale segues into sci-fi. Several moments are however, totally classic: the Abbott & Costello tattoo routine: "Dude!!! What's mine say??" "Sweet!!! What's mine say??"; and the brilliant, brilliant Chinese drive-through scene: "And then????".
