Review of DuckTales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990) by Kieran F — 12 Oct 2012

This is a pretty....FUN movie like I don't think I can really right an intelligent review on this film not because it's a kids film or anything like that but..It's just..straight up a FUN FUN FILM. its basically Duck Tales take on the whole magic Lamp/Aladdin idea( A magic Lamp that is wanted by every one and every one has a certain reason for the three wishes) the only Twist is that the main villain Merlock,Acted by Christpoher Llyod, has a magic talisman that when put on the lamp grants him an infinite number of wishes which he can then use to well...pretty much take over the world and Scrooges money haha.

But that's not why I watched this film as a kid and not why I watched it as an adult now. To be honest I watched the film then and now for the same reason: Fun. I liked how the film wasn't taking it's self serious yet wasn't so goofy it was dumb I also enjoyed the humor it was kiddish yes but..it was fun. I always liked the image of Dijon chasing after Murdoch after stealing EVERYTHING at the party,And I mean EVERYTHING, or how at the end he steals ALL of Scrooge's Money from his vault haha It's got other great moments too from the pretty impressive animation to the GREAT theme song.

In all honesty this film can be summed up with one word. FUN. and it is. it's not a film that trys to be a...semi drama..nor does it look like the film was made to cash in on the success of the TB series this film was made for one simple reason and that was to give the audience just over an hour of pure...FUN. Like I guess if I was to complain about something it would be the fact the film was only an hour long and so it really just feels like a two part episode but...in all honesty I don't care. It didn't really ruin my experience with the film but it did make me feel as if the film could've had more in it . But other then that I really enjoyed the film and to this day love sitting down and watching it with my kids and family.
