(1978) Drunken Master.
(In Chinese with English subtitles).
ACTION/ COMEDY.
The second film suucessful film directed martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo- Ping with Jackie Chan. It was also the last Jackie did with Yuen as well because of the resentment of not listening to Jackie when he asked him to fire the lead villian and nemisis he had to fight by the name of Hwang Jang Lee or Jang Lee Hwang (this was also Lee's last film appearance as well) a martial artist grandmaster from Korea who doesn't have any acting lessons or understand any Chinese and only knows how to fight which is why he actually kicked and punched Jackie for real creating alot of hositlity.
It had been said that it was because of this film was the basis for the Karate Kid films except that Drunken Master was for Chinese audiences and the Karate Kid films were aimed for the English audiences! Basically another revenge plot film with alot of training scenes which I don't need to see too much of. This film is most notable for showcasing it's music score and for showcasing it's mythical folk hero Wong Fei-Hong, but to me the only thing that stands out is the fight between Jackie and Jang Lee!
3 out of 4.
