Review of Drunken Master (1978) by Ken L — 17 Oct 2010
This film launched Jackie Chan's career (although some would argue Snake In Eagle's Shadow did that first) and it's easy to see why. He's a hysterical physical comedian and at a time when people were reeling over the death of Bruce Lee, Chan made us laugh in an action scene.
The fights are remarkable and there's plenty of genuine comedy here, as director Yuen Woo Ping's "drunken kung fu" is very funny. It's an essential for Jackie Chan fans and a must see for fans of Hong Kong action.
