Review of Drunken Angel (1948) by Marie H — 24 Feb 2008
This movie, like many Kurosawa films, seems ahead of it's time, even in the proper historical context.
Amazing performances from Shimura and Mifune (and Mifune is incredibly handsome in this as well).
This is definitely the short of movie that sits with you afterwards, and makes you think about all the seemingly unimportant events. In my opinion it's not as good as some of Kurosawa's other work, but it's still incredible.
4 stars!!!
