Review of Drunken Angel (1948) by Zack B — 11 Nov 2012
One of my favorite Kurosawa films. The juxtaposition between Matsunaga and Sanada is so well developed through this poetic dialogue that is devastating and through the performances by the brilliant Kurosawa regulars Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura.
Also, the dream/fantasy/nightmare (whatever you want to call it) sequence is among the best ever done in cinema.
