Review of Drugstore Cowboy (1989) by Blake P — 19 Jul 2016

This is the first movie I ever downloaded and burned, after first learning how to do so. I was so proud of myself that I wasted ink on printing up a bootleg DVD case cover, threw this under my television set, and then burnt about 1,800 more films before deciding to finally turn it on.

Drugstore Cowboy is an impressive production for 1989. This may have been on of the worst eras of filmmaking, but somehow this gem slipped under my teenage radar as I was growing up. Matt Dillon was a big name during the time period, or at least he was; after this movie was nominated for 18 awards and won 11 of them.

All in all, it's got a lot more serious original drama to it, than almost everything that was released in the late eighties.
