Review of Drowning Mona (2000) by Justin Y — 07 Aug 2010
Drowning Mona is a not-too-dark dark comedy. It's a very funny (and somewhat accurate) portrayal of a murder mystery in a small town. It has some quotable dialog and hilarious moments in Rashomon-type flashbacks, where a character recalls an event, but it may be exaggerated or not be the truth.
It served being both funny and adding to the mystery. It reminded me a bit of Raising Arizona, although Arizona is a classic and Drowning Mona is worth a rental.
