Review of Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999) by Daniel G — 21 Jul 2009
I just revisited this little underrated gem and am happy to report that my love for the film hasn't changed at all since I last saw it.
The script is sharp and witty and the cast is nothing sort of top notch. This script even makes Denise Richards look like a good actress. Kirsten Dunst has never been more adorable and sweet and Alison Janney has never been funnier.
The film seems to have developed a weird cult reputation recently. I's a strange film for sure. It's sort of like a Christopher Guest movie a la Waiting For Guffman or Best in Show, but a few shades darker. Someone times, it's hard to figure out if you're supposed to be terrified or laugh, but this is why the film is so unique and fun.
It's a real must see for everyone who likes their comedy a little dark.
Look out for a hilarious, early performance from Amy Adams!
