Review of Drop Dead Gorgeous (1991) by Benjamin S — 09 Sep 2009
Interesting mockumentary. Falls short with the laughs at times, but Allison Janney is quite marvelous, too bad she doesn't have a lot of screen time, she is sorely missed. Ellen Barkin is a hoot as mom.
Kirstin Dunst is rather funny as Amber. Kirstie Alley is fine, though too bad she didn't get a chance to really let loose. More murders would have moved the plot better. The best parts are when the girls from the big beauty pagent find out that Sara Rose cosmetics was taken by the IRA and all hell breaks loose and when all the gals get food poisoning from the shellfish.
I was cracking up.
