Review of Drop Dead Fred (1991) by Ethan H — 05 Aug 2010
Story: This movie is about a young woman named Lizzie who loses her money, car, husband, and her job in the same lunch hour. Being forced to live in her childhood home with her emotionally abusive mother, she finds a taped up jack in the box in her old bedroom and releases her imaginary friend, Drop Dead Fred.
Characters: Phoebe Cates plays Lizzie, the main character. Marsha Mason plays Polly, her abusive mother, and Rik Mayall plays Drop Dead Fred. They did ok, I think...
Humor: Oh I don't know. I don't think the film was that funny. There were times where the movie felt more like a horror comedy because like in the Critc's review, you could put horror music in one scene and it would fit perfectly. Also, this movie contains the funniest line, "You're crazy in the most wonderful way!". Also, Drop Dead Fred is just plain silly. Also it was kinda dull at times.
Overall: This was one of the wierdest, dumbest, and sometimes dullest comedies I've ever seen.
