Review of Driving Lessons (2006) by Elizabeth H — 18 May 2008
A highly-entertaining, sweet little film. Julie Walters manages to make her eccentric, aging actress look like the most normal adult in the film, which is exactly the point. Rupert Grint (known strictly in America as Harry's best pal, Ron Weasley) gives a rather understated performance as shy teen boy Ben, who eventually grows into a real man by the end of the film.
Laura Linney is appropriately hilarious as Ben's cheating, religious zealot of a mother. A perfect little summer movie with actual substance.
