Review of Driven (2019) by Aperturist — 07 Jul 2020
I didn't know anything of the story going in, and that was a very big contribution to why I enjoyed the movie so much. I liked the characters and cinematography. The connections that formed felt real, the humor was on point, and the overall atmosphere made me want to experience the time and place myself (if only I could).
I guess knowing anything about DeLorean's story beforehand might hinder the experience, which is why the movie didn't get higher scores from a lot of people. But if you're already factoring in things aside from the actual movie, also consider the crew experienced a hurricane on set in Puerto Rico, and still insisted on finishing the project on the devastated premises, aiding the locals greatly and keeping people employed. Either way, I think it's a great movie to spend an evening with, take in the time period, enjoy the characters and if you're unfamiliar with the story - it's a great introduction to an actual story on which the movie was based.
