Review of Drive Thru (2007) by Kyle L — 09 Jun 2012
Drive Thru is one of the greatest Direct To DVD movies that mainly beat the previous 2007 Direct To DVD Horror film Captivity. Drive Thru is a simple yet a fun slasher flick that is full of thrills, scares, suspense, tension and inventive gore effects that are really neat and tight plus it's also full of hilarious dialogues from Horny The Clown who is the serial killer in the movie along with other people like Detective Crockers and the cashier guy as well.
This movie has a really nice plot. The plot is about a group of kids who are getting picked one by one by a mysterious killer name Horny The Clown in a restaurant called Hella Burger and as the kids are getting picked one by one Mackenzie Carpenter realized that she's next and she and her boyfriend Fischer Kent are also learning the mysteries of Horny The Clown and their parents' dark secrets on who Horny The Clown is as well.
This movie really has a nice plot and it has a better execution than Roland Joffe's Captivity. What's great about Drive Thru is that the film is full of really packed and tight suspense with loads of thrills and jump scares and this film has a really good theme that makes the film look good.
Plus this movie is like an 80's slasher film due to the use of the themes in the film and it's like Friday The 13th in a restaurant which is what I like about this movie because the film is almost similar to various 80's Horror movies like Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street and all the tones and themes were well used in this movie.
I also laugh at the dialogues of the movie when I was watching this film the person who has the funniest dialogue in this movie is mainly Larry Joe Campbell who plays detective Crockers and the cashier guy in the film has lots of hilarious dialogues that makes me want to watch more even his actions make me laugh as well.
I personally like this movie and what I also like about this movie is that the film has a really nice dark atmosphere which makes the movie look good plus it also fits well with the scares in the movie as well.
I also enjoy the serial killer in this movie Horny The Clown. The killer is really creepy and scary plus his dialogue when he threatens the gangsters in the opening scene is really funny and the outfit looks really good and it seriously made me want to watch more so far.
What I also enjoy about Drive Thru is that the film also has lots of incredible inventive gore effects that are really neat and tight which I like in the film so far and all of the gore effects and graphic violence really fits well in the movie.
The opening scene where the first guy gets killed by placing his head on the place where they cook the fries is really disturbing and graphic and that scene is really well executed in the movie plus I also like the kill scene when Horny The Clown kills a girl by heating her head in a microwave and the blood starts to come out that scene also fits well in the movie plus let's not forget the scene where Horny The Clown cuts one guy in half with his Big Butcher Knife that scene was also well executed and it is also the nastiest death scene in the movie while the rest of the kills are also good in the movie as well like the Butcher Knife straight to the head with Horny's throw was really good so far even the cut of the face in half is really nice in the film as well.
The acting is also good in this move all of the casts in this film are really good with their performances in the film the beautiful and gorgeous Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl did a good job with her performance in the film.
Final Destination 5 star Nicholas D' Agosto did a good job with his performance in his first Horror film before he played the lead role in Final Destination 5 while the rest were good and hilarious as well.
Directors Brendan Cowles and Shane Kuhn did a good job with their directing with this movie and they both did an incredible job with their directing with this movie so far and they seriously gave the film a big punch in the gut so far because this movie seriously did a really good job in the Horror genre so far.
Overall Drive Thru gets a 10/10 because this movie is full of jump scares, thrills, tension and suspense with lots of inventive gore effects that are neat and tight plus the acting is incredible and hilarious in the movie so far and this movie is way better than the disappointing Captivity.
I heard that there's gonna be a sequel to this movie and I'm really interested to see if the sequel will be just as good as the first movie.
