Review of Drive Me Crazy (1999) by Panayiota K — 20 Feb 2016
Drive Me Crazy, looks and feels like a million other 90's teen movies you've seen before. The plot centres around the high school dance and various dating schemes ensue. For the fist 30 minutes of this movie, I was bored out of my mind.
The characters weren't very interesting and I didn't laugh once. Then, REO Speedwagon's "Keep On Loving You" came on and I was invested in an instant. It's weird how a film's soundtrack can do that.
After that, I realized that this wasn't a highschool comedy, it was a highschool drama. The students actually talk like highschoolers. They aren't as dumb as other students in other teen movies.
Melissa Joan Hart and Adrain Grenier have good chemistry together and do a good job of driving the movie along. The side characters are a little weak abd don't really stick out. I think that was to do with casting, not writing.
Overall, this was an enjoyable movie. Nothing special but a fun watch.
