Review of Drive Angry (2011) by Lee H — 02 Mar 2012
May I start by saying I love Nicolas Cage!
I love the fact that he will take film roles completely off a tangent. From the amazing (Bad Lieutenant), the random (Werewolf-women of the SS), the family friendly (National Treasure) to the awful ( Too many to mention but Ghost Rider is near the bottom of the barrel). In all, he will be the stand out actor, be it art house or mainstream, good or bad.
With drive angry, we see a withdrawn Cage trying to work out why he is in this below average exploitation flick. He never seems to let go and as such, it's hard for the story to engage you. It has a few nice ideas and a couple of good action scenes (the sex shoot out) but overall, it's just not very good. Special mention to Fichtner, who's character The accountant is way to good for this film and deserves his own movie!
